Source Code, a sci-fi thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan was a movie I wouldn’t have bothered checking out if not for the lovely Vera Farmiga. I’ve been a fan of her elegant acting despite the mis-step of Orphan. It was a rather nice surprise to find myself watching a fairly tight, interesting thriller. Yes–it had a couple of holes but then again I write for a living therefore I seek out plot holes and the lack of science in a sci-fi was one of them. This movie involves some sci-fi elements which are briefly touched upon– so briefly that I wonder if the producers cut it out as too boring? One of the twists was fairly easy to guess–so easy that I considered that the audience was meant to in order to add tension to the remaining adventure. Despite these few hiccups the story was good, the characters fairly believable–even Jake gave a creditable performance. This is about all I am going to mention as I don’t want to include any spoilers. After the rubbish that has been floating around this one gives what you want from a thriller–a pretty good ride.
Good Value for money. 8/10
